In this article, I will tell you how you can use essential oil for bruises to make them heal faster naturally.  Don’t spend money on toxic creams that make empty promises!  Essential oils are all natural and can do the job just as well, if not better than those store bought creams.

Bruises are one of the most common injuries that can happen to your skin.  They happen to most of us on a fairly regular basis, especially when we are young.  While some people are more susceptible to getting large painful bruises, it happens to all of us at some points.

There are numerous essential oils that can help heal bruises.  In this article, we will review my favorites and how I use them for me and my children.  I would never suggest using anything that I wouldn’t use myself.  Before we talk about how to use an essential oil for bruises, let’s review how you got that bruise in the first place.

Why Do I Have This Bruise?

Bruises are a sign that you suffered from an injury and your body is trying to recover.  Typically, this is from an injury where something on your body gets struck but the skin doesn’t break.  The capillaries near the skins surface are leaking blood that can’t escape.  This leaves you with a red or purplish mark that is tender to the touch.

There are plenty of ways that you could gotten a cruises.  You can bump into things or have things bump into you.  Any blunt trauma that your body receives has a chance of producing a bruise.  Fortunately for us, bruises don’t last forever!

How Long Is My Bruise Going To Last?

Bruises heal at different rates depending on how much damage and how fast your body heals.  You can help the process along by effectively using an essential oils for bruises as well.

Have you ever watched a bruise progress and change colors?  You will notice that your bruise turns from dark red or purple to yellow as it heals.  This is a good sign, showing that your body is reabsorbing that blood.  Once the blood is gone, the bruise will no longer exists.

Depending on how bad the damage is, it can take one to two weeks for a bruise to heal.  It will only hurt for the first couple of days and then you will notice it start to turn green or yellow and stop hurting.  Soon after, it will start to turn yellowish-brown and then fade away.

Why Do I Bruise So Easily?

Some people bruise much easier than others.  It depends on a few different factors that you can’t control in most cases.  If you bruise easily, one of these conditions might apply to you.

Skin Thickness – Those of us that have thin skin bruise much easier than those with thick skin.  There is less padding to protect the capillaries from getting smashed and causing the bruise.

Age – It’s an unfortunate fact of life that we all get weaker as we get older.  Our skin gets weaker and out blood vessels break more easily.  As you get older, you will find that you will start to bruise much more often.

Disease – Certain diseases and conditions slow the recovery from bruises too.  Some diseases make it harder for your body to reabsorb the blood that is stuck.  You could also have weaker skin or weaker capillaries depending on what you have going on.

Medication – These reasons are the same as if you were suffering from a disease or condition as mentioned above.

How Can Essential Oil For Bruises Help?

Essential oils can be very effective in helping your bruise heal faster.  I use a combination of oils whenever someone gets a large bruise in my house.  If anyone of you have children, you know that I use them regularly!

Depending on which essential oil or oils you are using, you could use them to help reduce pain, reduce inflammation, or just improve the appearance of your bruise.  The most effective way to use them is by combing multiple oils into a single recipe.  This allows you to recover from numerous issues at the same time.

What Are The Best Essential Oils For Bruises?

You could use a large number of essential oils for bruises and get great results.  Some will work better than others but not many will actually make anything worse.  That is one of the things that I love about essential oils.  It’s a no-lose situation most of the time!

That being said, some essential oils are going to be much more effective on bruises than others.  Here are a handful of oils that I use on bruises.

When you get a bruise, you are most likely going to get some pain to go along with it.  Lemongrass essential oil is a great natural way to help alleviate that pain.  This extremely useful oils has analgesic properties that you can apply directly to the affected area.  I am all for anything that allows me to relieve pain without taking an all-encompassing pain reliever.

On top of the analgesic properties, lemongrass does a great job reducing swelling.  Spreading this oil around the bruised area will help stop the area from swelling any more.  This will help you recover from the injury much faster!

This oil makes it to the top of my list because it covers two bases at the same time!  Lemongrass is one the best essential oil for bruises in my book by far.

Lemongrass Bruise Cream – Mix 5 drops of lemongrass essential oil into a tablespoon of your preferred carrier oils to create a bruise fighting cream.  Massage that cream into the affected area three times daily.  You will be surprised at how much faster your bruise will disappear.

Rosemary Oil

If you are looking to heal fast, rosemary essential oil might be the way to go.  Rosemary is known to be a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound.  This will help regulate your immune systems response to the bruising.  In other words, it will help decrease stress and lower inflammation, increasing the rate of recovery.

Rosemary Soak – I always seem to get bruises in bunches, making this essential oil recipe great for me.  Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to a warm bathtub and soak in it daily for the first few days of getting the bruises.  Make sure that the bruised are is completely submerged while you are soaking.

Lavender Oil

Lavender essential oils is one of a few oils that can help prevent bruising entirely if used fast enough.  This oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help prevent blood from building up in the area of impact.  It will help decrease the appearance of a bruise at the very worse.

Another quality that makes lavender a great essential oil for bruises is the pain relieving qualities.  Studies have shown that this essential oil can be an effective natural pain reliever.  Who wouldn’t want pain relief with a decrease in the appearance of your bruise?

Direct Affect – Lavender essential oil is one of the few oils that can be applied directly to your skin without much risk.  I like to apply three to five drops to the area I believe will bruise as soon as possible.

Geranium Oil

If you want your bruise to heal as fast as possible, then you want the cells to recover and create new tissue quickly.  Geranium essential oil has homeostatic properties (it stops bleeding), improves blood flow, and promotes the growth of new tissue.  This makes it a very powerful essential oil to fight bruises.

The only downfall with using this oil is that it might result in increased inflammation at first.  This is a result of the oil increasing blood flow to the capillaries that are ruptured.  Once they start to close up, the geranium essential oil will get to work and you won’t regret your choice.

Geranium Bruise Cream – You never want to apply geranium essential oil directly to your skin.  Mix a few drops into your favorite carrier oil, such as coconut oil, to dilute it first.  This recipe will produce rapid results if you apply to the bruise a few times a day.

Frankincense Oil

While this oil may sound like it is out of a Halloween movie, frankincense essential oil does a great job at reducing the appearance of bruises.  Studies have shown that frankincense reduces redness and irritation in skin, making it great for bruising.  This is due to the antioxidants and stimulants that are found in the oil.

Direct Application – Unlike most of the essential oil for bruises that I recommend on this list, frankincense can be applies directly to the affected area.  As soon as you believe that you are going to bruise, apply a few drops of this essential oil and watch the magic happen.

Arnica Oil

This oil is typically considered a carrier oil, so you might want to use it in combination with other essential oils for bruises on this list.  It is packed with nutrients and has very analgesic and anti-inflammatory potential.  It will stop the swelling and help with the pain, its hard to beat that combination.

Disappearing Bruise Cream – Mix one tablespoon of arnica oil with a few drops of lavender oil and a few drops of tea tree oil.  Apply them directly to the bruise daily and let them work that bruise away in no time!

Cypress Oil

Much like the lavender oil that we mentioned above, cypress essential oil can do a great job stopping a bruise in its tracks.  This oil has the ability to stimulate circulation in the area and start the healing process quickly.  If you apply it early enough, it is possible to avoid having a bruise all together.

Cypress Blend – Mix 5 drops of cypress essential oil with your favorite carrier oil.  Try and apply it to the affected area as soon as you get an injury that you believe is going to work.  The earlier you apply it, the better it will do in preventing you from bruising entirely!
